CHESS FOR FAMILIES

One place for family chess. A space for each learner.

Siblings do not learn at the same pace, and a parent does not need to become a chess expert to help. Separate profiles keep each learner’s games and progress together while the adult manages the account, invitations and membership.

Create a family account
01

Start with the adult account, then choose the learner

The account holder signs in and creates learner profiles within the current plan’s allowance. A child can use a profile under that account without needing a separate email address. Choose the appropriate learning experience for each learner rather than sharing one profile between people.

The Kids Parent Dashboard belongs to the children’s experience. Teens and adults use their own workspace. Changing the learner should change the progress you see; it should not mix one child’s results into a sibling’s statistics. Account security and payments remain adult responsibilities.

02

Help without taking over the board

Ask a learner what their opponent’s last move threatens before suggesting your own move. If they cannot explain a choice, return to a smaller example. When an activity asks for an answer card, point out the choices instead of encouraging random clicks on the board.

For a child learning at home, a useful routine is a lesson, a few related positions and a short game. End by asking what they noticed. The aim is to give them a repeatable thinking process, not to make every game a test they must win.

Put it into practice

  1. Open the correct learner profile.
  2. Choose one lesson or practice goal.
  3. Let the learner make the decision.
  4. Discuss one moment afterwards.
03

Join school or club teaching without buying twice

When a coach invites a learner, the account holder approves enrollment. The learner then receives the curriculum, homework and sessions assigned through that class. The teacher can see classroom information needed for teaching, including submitted answers and feedback; they do not receive access to unrelated family profiles or family billing.

Classroom access is attached to the teaching organisation’s active membership. Personal Free privileges remain available outside the class. If your family wants wider personal lessons, more practice or other paid benefits, an Individual or Family upgrade is a separate choice. Joining a class alone does not start that subscription.

04

Review membership terms before upgrading

Compare the number of learner profiles and the exact features shown for each plan. Monthly and yearly options have different billing schedules; a yearly price is charged as a yearly total, not as twelve smaller payments. Any trial and automatic renewal terms are shown before approval.

An upgrade should match how your family uses the site. Existing profiles and progress are preserved when a personal membership ends, while access and new-profile limits follow the current plan. Contact support if you need help understanding which account or teaching invitation a learner is using.

Before you start

Does each child need an email address?

A learner profile can sit under the adult account. Account emails and classroom notifications go to the account holder.

Does the Family plan include a coach or school subscription?

No. Family is a personal membership. Teaching plans cover classroom tools, staff seats and enrolled learners.
