Your account and learner profiles
The account holder signs in and creates learner profiles. A child can use a profile under an adult’s account without a separate email address. Each profile has its own username, optional photo and country, learning experience, game history and saved progress. The optional account PIN protects account management and teaching controls.
Google and Apple sign-in
When enabled, you can create an account or sign in through Google or Apple. The provider handles your password and asks you to approve access to your basic identity information. We use the provider’s account identifier, email address and available name to create or recognize your Chess242 account. We do not request access to your mail, contacts, calendars or files.
If you already use email and password, sign in to that account first and connect a provider from My Class. Connecting requires the same email address and an authenticated account; matching email addresses alone do not automatically merge accounts. Existing learner profiles and progress stay with the account you connected. Apple’s Hide My Email uses a relay address and can create a separate account if you use it instead of your existing email.
Authentication records and essential session cookies let us recognize your signed-in account and protect requests. Provider credentials are kept on the server. Sign-in providers process information under their own policies: Google privacy policy and Sign in with Apple & privacy.
Community rules
Use a suitable username and only photos you have permission to share. Harassment, hateful or sexual content, impersonation and cheating are prohibited. You can block players in Friends and report them through Support. We may remove profile content or reset usernames that break these rules.
Chat
Private messages are available between accepted friends and online-game opponents. Kids chat starts off and is managed by the account holder using the account PIN in Learning preferences. Turning chat off stops sending and receiving. Blocking a player closes their conversations. Messages are available for 90 days and older messages are removed during chat maintenance. Account exports include chat messages; deleting a learner removes messages sent or received by that learner.
Fair play
Standard online games follow our online play rules. Use Support to report a game or request a result review.
Tournament entrants must follow the camera and fair-play rules, including account holder consent, image retention and activity review.
Only the site owner creates and manages platform tournaments. We record game moves, server clock timings and review decisions to investigate abuse and protect competition results. Automated checks compare sampled moves with an engine and flag unusual timing or repeated short pairings for human review. These signals do not establish cheating. We also keep aggregate blocked-script report counts for 30 days, without page URLs, script content or device fingerprints. Cash-prize entries require organizer approval, and results require review before prize records can be approved. Restricted accounts cannot enter new online games or tournaments. Contact Support to request a review of a restriction. Competition records remain under a deleted-player identity after profile deletion; personal review notes are removed.
Support
Send a request or report a player from Support. The account holder and site owner can see requests and replies. Reports include the supplied message, player and game reference. Account deletion removes your support requests; deleting a learner removes that learner’s linked report details.

Email preferences
We use Resend to send account emails, including password resets, welcome messages, payment confirmations, membership updates, invitations, homework, class schedule changes and support replies. Emails go to the account holder. We share the recipient address and the details needed for each notification with our email provider. Manage optional homework, schedule and support emails in Settings → Account & security. Security, payment and requested invitation emails remain available.
Email delivery records are kept for 30 days after provider acceptance. Unresolved failures are retained for troubleshooting. We retain a minimal event identifier to prevent duplicate notifications until account deletion. Account deletion removes app email preferences and delivery records. Provider delivery logs are subject to Resend’s privacy policy.
Member and owner access
The Owner area is restricted to the configured platform owner. Payment configuration, operating expenses, advertising controls and shared collection administration are separate from member tools. Coach workspaces require a paid coach subscription or an included staff seat. Only the Kids experience offers a Parent Dashboard.
Export or delete your account
Open Settings → Account & security on this website or in the app. Export your data, then select Delete account. Confirm with your password or a recent social sign-in and the account PIN if enabled. Cancel renewing subscriptions and resolve pending payment approvals first, then refresh their status. You can complete this process on the website without installing an app.
Deletion removes your sign-in, personal profile details, photos, saved progress, private studies and club content. Recorded competition results retain a deleted-player identity to preserve opponents’ game history. Limited subscription and payment records are kept for billing reconciliation and fraud prevention. Previously created backups may retain earlier records until their retention period ends; deleted accounts must not be reactivated when restoring a backup. The platform owner must transfer ownership before deleting the owner account.
